6.17 The slayer of sorrow Krishna speaks

युक्ताहारविहारस्य युक्तचेष्टस्य कर्मसु
युक्तस्वप्नावबोधस्य योगो भवति दुःखहा

yuktāhāra-vihārasya yukta-cheṣhṭasya karmasu
yukta-svapnāvabodhasya yogo bhavati duḥkha-hā

For one moderate in eating and rest, balanced in work, measured in sleep and waking — yoga becomes the slayer of sorrow.

Explanation

Moderate, and then a startling phrase.

Measured in eating, rest, work, sleep and waking — and yoga becomes duḥkha-hā, the slayer of sorrow.

The claim is put in the language of the epic the Gita sits inside: a killer of something. What it kills is not an enemy on the field but the grief Arjuna is sitting in.
