5.4 Only children see two things Krishna speaks
सांख्ययोगौ पृथग्बालाः प्रवदन्ति न पण्डिताः
एकमप्यास्थितः सम्यगुभयोर्विन्दते फलम्
sānkhya-yogau pṛithag bālāḥ pravadanti na paṇḍitāḥ
ekamapyāsthitaḥ samyag ubhayor vindate phalam
Children say that renunciation and yoga are different things; the learned do not. Whoever is truly established in one gains the fruit of both.
Explanation
Only children think these are two different things.
bālāḥ — children, the immature. Strong language for this book, and aimed at a distinction Arjuna has just made.
The claim is not that the two are similar. It is that whoever is genuinely established in one gets the fruit of both, because they were never separable to begin with.
