4.5 I know them all; you do not Krishna speaks

बहूनि मे व्यतीतानि जन्मानि तव चार्जुन
तान्यहं वेद सर्वाणि न त्वं वेत्थ परन्तप

bahūni me vyatītāni janmāni tava chārjuna
tānyahaṁ veda sarvāṇi na tvaṁ vettha parantapa

Many births of mine have passed, Arjuna, and of yours. I know them all; you do not.

Explanation

I know them all; you do not.

Many births of mine have passed, and of yours. The asymmetry is stated flatly, with no argument attached.

It is the first time Krishna answers a question about himself rather than about action, and the answer is a difference in memory rather than in kind.
