4.39 Faith, and restraint Krishna speaks

श्रद्धावाँल्लभते ज्ञानं तत्परः संयतेन्द्रियः
ज्ञानं लब्ध्वा परां शान्तिमचिरेणाधिगच्छति

śhraddhāvān labhate jñānaṁ tat-paraḥ sanyatendriyaḥ
jñānaṁ labdhvā parāṁ śhāntim achireṇādhigachchhati

One who has faith, who is intent, whose senses are restrained, gains knowledge — and having gained it, comes quickly to the highest peace.

Explanation

Faith, intent, restraint — and then quickly.

Such a one gains knowledge, and having gained it comes quickly to the highest peace.

Set against 4.38's in time, the two verses divide the journey: the getting takes as long as it takes, and what follows the getting is fast.
