2.66 Where is happiness? Krishna speaks

नास्ति बुद्धिरयुक्तस्य न चायुक्तस्य भावना
न चाभावयतः शान्तिरशान्तस्य कुतः सुखम्

nāsti buddhir-ayuktasya na chāyuktasya bhāvanā
na chābhāvayataḥ śhāntir aśhāntasya kutaḥ sukham

The unjoined have no understanding and no contemplation; without contemplation there is no peace, and without peace, where is happiness?

Explanation

Where is happiness?

No understanding without being joined; no contemplation without understanding; no peace without contemplation — and without peace, where is happiness?

A chain of four, running the opposite way from 2.62's. The chapter has now given the mechanism of coming apart and of holding together, in the same vocabulary.
