2.61 Sit joined, intent on me Krishna speaks

तानि सर्वाणि संयम्य युक्त आसीत मत्परः
वशे हि यस्येन्द्रियाणि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता

tāni sarvāṇi sanyamya yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ
vaśhe hi yasyendriyāṇi tasya prajñā pratiṣhṭhitā

Having brought them all under control, one should sit joined, intent on me. For the one whose senses are mastered, wisdom is firmly established.

Explanation

Sit joined, intent on me.

The first appearance in the book of the personal object. Having brought the senses under control, sit — mat-paraḥ, taking me as the highest.

It arrives quietly, in the middle of a passage about the senses. Chapters 9 and 12 will build everything on it; here it is one clause.
