2.39 Now hear it as practice Krishna speaks

एषा तेऽभिहिता सांख्ये बुद्धिर्योगे त्विमां श्रृणु
बुद्ध्यायुक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि

eṣhā te ’bhihitā sānkhye
buddhir yoge tvimāṁ śhṛiṇu
buddhyā yukto yayā pārtha
karma-bandhaṁ prahāsyasi

What I have told you so far is by way of analysis. Now hear it by way of practice: with this understanding you will cut the bonds of action.

Explanation

Now hear it as practice.

What came before was sāṅkhya — analysis. What follows is yoga, and with it you will cut the bonds of action.

The chapter announces its own hinge. Everything up to here has been about what is true; everything after is about what to do.
