2.27 What cannot be avoided Krishna speaks
जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च
तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि
jātasya hi dhruvo mṛityur dhruvaṁ janma mṛitasya cha
tasmād aparihārye ’rthe na tvaṁ śhochitum arhasi
For the born, death is certain; for the dead, birth is certain. So do not grieve over what cannot be avoided.
Explanation
What cannot be avoided.
For the born, death is certain; for the dead, birth is certain.
The consolation here is entirely different from 2.20's, and much colder. It does not say nobody dies. It says the dying was never in question, which is 11.32's answer in miniature.
