देहिनोऽस्मिन्यथा देहे कौमारं यौवनं जरा
तथा देहान्तरप्राप्तिर्धीरस्तत्र न मुह्यति
dehino ’smin yathā dehe kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā
tathā dehāntara-prāptir dhīras tatra na muhyati
As a person passes from childhood to youth to age, so the embodied one passes from body to body. The steady are not confused by this.

The analogy is doing something careful. Nobody grieves the loss of their own childhood as a death, and the verse is asking why the larger transition should be read differently.
