18.10 Neither hating nor clinging Krishna speaks

न द्वेष्ट्यकुशलं कर्म कुशले नानुषज्जते
त्यागी सत्त्वसमाविष्टो मेधावी छिन्नसंशयः

na dveṣhṭy akuśhalaṁ karma kuśhale nānuṣhajjate
tyāgī sattva-samāviṣhṭo medhāvī chhinna-sanśhayaḥ

One who neither hates unwelcome work nor clings to welcome work is a true renouncer, filled with clarity, free of doubt.

Explanation

Neither hating the unwelcome work nor clinging to the welcome.

Both halves, as always. And the description ends: free of doubt.

Which is what 4.40 said there is no happiness without, and what 2.7 sent Arjuna to school over. The portrait of the renouncer closes on the absence of his original problem.
