14.22 Not hating, not longing Krishna speaks

प्रकाशं च प्रवृत्तिं च मोहमेव च पाण्डव
न द्वेष्टि सम्प्रवृत्तानि न निवृत्तानि काङ्क्षति

prakāśhaṁ cha pravṛittiṁ cha moham eva cha pāṇḍava
na dveṣhṭi sampravṛittāni na nivṛittāni kāṅkṣhati

Light, busyness and delusion — one who does not hate them when they arise, and does not long for them when they cease;

Explanation

Not hating them when they come, not longing when they go.

Light, busyness and delusion — the three strands by their effects. And the described attitude is toward all three equally, including the good one.

So this is not equanimity about misfortune. It is equanimity about one's own clarity, which is a considerably stranger request.
