10.22 Among the senses, the mind Krishna speaks
वेदानां सामवेदोऽस्मि देवानामस्मि वासवः
इन्द्रियाणां मनश्चास्मि भूतानामस्मि चेतना
vedānāṁ sāma-vedo ’smi devānām asmi vāsavaḥ
indriyāṇāṁ manaśh chāsmi bhūtānām asmi chetanā
Among the Vedas I am the Sama; among the gods, Indra; among the senses, the mind; and in living beings I am consciousness.
Explanation
Among the senses, the mind — and then consciousness.
The Sama among Vedas, Indra among gods, the mind among the senses, and in living beings cetanā.
Note that mind is listed as one of the senses, as it is at 7.4 and 13.6. The Gita is consistent about this even inside a hymn.
