1.16 The brothers' conches Sanjaya speaks
अनन्तविजयं राजा कुन्तीपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः
नकुलः सहदेवश्च सुघोषमणिपुष्पकौ
anantavijayaṁ rājā kuntī-putro yudhiṣhṭhiraḥ
nakulaḥ sahadevaśhcha sughoṣha-maṇipuṣhpakau
King Yudhishthira, son of Kunti, blew the Anantavijaya; Nakula and Sahadeva blew the Sughosha and the Manipushpaka.
Explanation
And so do the brothers'.
Yudhishthira's Anantavijaya — endless victory. Nakula's Sughosha, Sahadeva's Manipushpaka.
The eldest brother's conch is called endless victory, which the war will make a bitter name. The Mahabharata's ending is already inside the vocabulary of its beginning.
